99 Rescue at the Lumber Camp
The adventuring party arrived at the abandoned lumber camp and immediately encountered trouble. They observed a group of Nopera-bo harassing a Kappa on the loading dock and successfully defended the Kappa in a fight. Approaching what appeared to be guards, the party realized they were also Nopera-bo in disguise, accompanied by a dog named Jerky, who ordered them to leave. The party refused and engaged the disguised creatures in combat.
While investigating the outer buildings, they discovered another group of Nopera-bo occupied with a hand crossbow competition and chose not to interfere. Moving to the rear of the camp, the party climbed lumber piles to gain a vantage point inside the palisade. From there, they observed a gathering of Nopera-bo celebrating around a fire near the entrance, and importantly, located the kidnapped farmers imprisoned in a nearby cage.
Hazuki used their shapeshifting ability to transform into a leaf and fly over the palisade, entering the room with the farmers. Disguised as a leaf spirit, Hazuki communicated the party’s rescue plan to one of the captives. The farmer, relieved by the news, then inquired if the party had also located Kum Soong, revealing his importance to the group.
